Moving on... Issue two of
The Dawg Print is almost done. We're pretty on schedule as far as things go, but we should start planning the next issue. It's harder to run a newspaper than I thought it would be, even with two other editors-in-chief (well, one-and-a-half, to be more precise). Besides getting everyone organized you are expected to amass a large collection of Quark and printing knowledge in a very short period of time. It's tough, but it's fun, and I'm enjoying the experience and glad that I have M. (who is a senior and basically did all of the first issue because I was all over the place) to help run things and teach me the ways of the Mac.
So the
Model UN conference is in a week and not only do I still have 3/4 of a position paper left to write, but I want to lose some weight to fit into my dress pants. I hate to admit that I let the media affect my self image, but I hate not being 110 pounds. I can't completely place the blame on magazines or any of those sort of things-- I know I should have more self-control when it comes to food-- but it just seems easier to point fingers than to take control of my own situation. But in any case, I'll be drinking a lot of green tea and exercising this weekend so that I can try to lose four pounds or something. I'm not disillusioned (or sick) enough to truly claim to think I'm "fat," (right now, at 4 in the afternoon after a fairly large lunch I am 121.5) but I think that I could use to lose a few pounds and tighten up my abs (my doctor's told me to lose weight, I guess that's some sort of indication).
Right. That's enough teenager for now, I suppose. We have to write a satire for English and although that is seemingly my "department" when it comes to writing, I'm drawing a blank. As far as I understand, it has to be based on Jonathan Swift's
A Modest Proposal. Not only do I dislike basing my writing on that of someone else (theirs is ultimately better, and that tends to bruise my ego a bit), but I want to branch out as far as mode goes. I don't simply want to write an essay, I want to experiment with poking fun at all sorts of things (i.e. standardized tests, poems, etc.). I'll post it here when it's done, so I guess we'll see how it turns out in a few days.
Well I feel bad for just blathering on, so I'll cut this post loose. I'll try and come up with something of interest to write about in the next few days.
