I sent my deposit in to Columbia yesterday. How surreal is that? I can't believe I'm actually going to college in a few months. Absolutely insane.
Eliav, Amy, Dan and I went to see The Dodos at Vintage Vinyl in Fords yesterday. The crowd, if it can even be called that, was practically nonexistent. Not that this was a bad thing; I don't think I'd ever be able to complain
about a fifteen person show. What their three song set was lacking in length was fully compensated for in quality: they were vibrant (although visibly quite tired from their hectic touring schedule) players with a clear, coordinated sound.
Apparently The Dodos have been getting quite a bit of press lately, although I only heard of them for the first time a little while ago and had my first listen last week.
Lots of tracks worth listening to on their album Visiter, but this is probably the easiest "transition" piece. Reminiscent of the White Stripes' 2002 release, De Stijl (which, coincidentally, was one of my first CD purchases).
